Classic village terraced house on two floors, 18th century, around 300 yrs YOUNG ! A
refreshing and instantly calming coolness is the main atmospheric quality of the house,
no electrostatic or gassing modern materials. the walls are over a metre thick in stone and
lime, giving a very quiet with a soundproofed quality to the groundfloor, the entrance hall
is the first room about 20m2 then an entrance to a large subterranean cellar (16m2, im
geusstimating the measurements because this is not the owner writing, who has the plans
that i havent studied yet)at the far wall. There was a well in the cellar originally and water
still comes up past the cap a few inches in wet weather, a small pump and hose is set up
to drain it and water the garden at the same time. The main living room is approx double
the entrance hall with a gorgeous high quality knotless spruce boardwood floor, well
linseed oiled to give that darker warmer hue. There is no central heating there are two
cast iron woodburners one for each kitchen and dining room is open plan with
another exotic cast iron stove/oven woodburner, there is mains gas and electricity, the
cupboards are built in period pieces of ample function and pleasing visually with large
glass panels in the all antique wooden framing and access to the garden patio
through french doors from then on. The patio garden looks east and has an unobstructed long
distance and elevated view from the street rear entrance a level below. There is a
smallish one car garage under the main red brick patioed area. Upstairs is the original
terracotta tile flooring, very well worn in, yet charming ! All the ceilings have exposed
wooden beams upstairs and down. There are two large double rooms front and back with
the smallest room a windowless but big enough for a single bed and chest of drawers with
a large recessed storage space with shelves in the far right corner and an open medium
sized room/space without a partition wall to the passage way in between the main master
rooms and the one main bathroom. There is an outdoor toilet and washing basin and
washing machine hookup, out on the sheltered kitchen side of the patio garden. The roof
is classic terracotta curved tiles.
